May / June 2017 Update

The first half of the year has gone! It has been brilliant with an energy and commitment to the yoga and breathing bones classes that you the practitioners have created and nurtured into a vibrant and welcoming community.

I feel amazing gratitude for the sharing and support for the intensives, courses, workshops and weekly classes that take place in the fabulous Reading Room at the Arlington Baths Club. The billiard table is a distant memory and the space is slowly changing into a dedicated practice space.

The Ashtanga Yoga and Pranayama Intensive was fully booked. Kia Naddermier again cast her spell and offered her unique and extraordinary perspective on pranayama and ashtanga yoga from a depth of knowledge and experience.

Please don’t delay in registering interest for the next intensive as her popularity grows.

Before then there is another Retreat. The numbers are seriously limited and there are currently only 5 places left. Hurry!

3 – 5 November Ashtanga Yoga and Breathing Bones Weekend Retreat at Lerigoligan, Ardfern.

The weekend allows time to explore the asanas and deepen our individual physical relationship to the practice. Breathing bones provides the opportunity to examine releasing and softening, gaining insights that can compliment the flow of movement and breath.

A number of people have expressed interest in practicing over the summer and space will be open in the mornings to welcome those of you who are free to come. Please offer £2 towards the cost of the space – you can bring this in the autumn or give it to Laura and Kate when they are not in Yoga Plus, Crete.

In the autumn I am delighted to be joined by Laura Gonzalez as the programme continues to develop more courses and classes and cater for the diverse range of attendees. Many of you already know Laura who completes her teacher training in July. There will be a Thursday morning yoga and pranayama class and Laura will also be teaching the Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga.

I want to thank:

Brian Hartley for freshening up, adding clarity and invigorating the website

Ali Sim for delicious and delightfully nourishing food for the Intensives and Sunday workshops (reason enough to attend)

Andrew McGilp and the staff at the Arlington for their professionalism and generosity

Thought of the month:

The true essence of yoga takes time. Remember that the strongest tree grows the slowest.
