June has seen the successful performances of the Reid Kerr students at Eastwood theatre. It is wonderful to see another generation starting on their professional journey. My thanks to Gillian De Jacques, head of dance Jon Keliehor master musician and percussionist and the dancers in my piece ‘Field”.

The second year Contemporary Performance Practice students at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland are also covered in glory from their performances much to their surprise. Congratulations to Ruth Mills who as the guest director guided them through the process to completion. I was privileged to offer Yoga as part of their daily practice programme.

Have been having a ball working with the Dance House community company on a piece for the Merchant City Festival. I wish them all luck and joy in its performances in Merchant Square in July. The devising period was fabulous and made so special by the accompaniment and musicianship of Karen McIver – Bliss.

My brother Kofi and sister in law Elke came to visit during that blissful weather late May. As always it was lovely to see them and we enjoyed having new and old friends over for BBQ’s and drinks.

I went to Sweden to visit my friends Ilias, Rebecka and their daughter Rhea. I was not so lucky with the weather, it was the coldest June for 82 years, colder than their Christmas eve and lashing with rain and wind! It was wonderful, all the sunshine was in gathering together with friends and yoga pals.

I have been in my flat now nearly one year and have hit the skids with the discovery of rot and woodworm – arghhh. It will be sorted and it has not dented my delight in living in Woodlands.

Classes and workshops are going well and I look forward to welcoming you back in September. The first Sunday workshop is 16 September and classes start 1 October. I will be running a new beginners course for 5 weeks. Please check the website for details.

Hope the Ashtanga diagrams have arrived in your email box for you to begin self-practice at home. If you are looking to keep up classes do try Cathy Moran at the Movement Studio, Claremont Terrace and Gerry Keilty at Balance, Napiershall Street.
