Ashtanga yoga: a moving meditation breath practice with Jack O’Flynn
Monday 7, 14, 21, 28 June, 18.00-19.15
Arlington Baths
Jack is back teaching for us and we are delighted. Take the opportunity to practice with him before he travels to Norway!
Jack will be offering a 4-week course of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. In this course students will be led through a movement based yoga practice, and especially guided to deepen their awareness of the breath within the poses and transitions. This will increase access to challenging postures, finding length and depth in them, as well as enhanceknowledge of what is going on in the body.
Breath is the leading force of an Ashtanga yoga practice. Spending time developing a breath-focused practice guides us to integrate deeper, calming breaths in our daily life. When we bring our awareness to the breath in our practice we find access to deep channels of tension, feeling and sensation in the body. With the steady flow of inhalation and exhalation, we can begin to release pain and constriction from these points, allowing for new flowing energy to circulate and enliven.
With the breath we return to ourselves.
In this course students will:
Be guided through a physical yoga practice, which will enable them to access deeper and more subtle aspects of the poses.
Learn how to deepen the breath in the Ashtanga Vinyasa system and be more present in the postures.
Experience the meditative qualities of a movement based yoga practice.
The course is open to both complete beginners and experienced practitioners wanting to deepen their breath and practice in a safe group after long months of self-practice.
This course will take place live at the Arlington Baths and is restricted to 8 participants only.
Special course price £40 / £30 concessions (students, retired, unwaged, Arlington members). This is cheaper than 4 regular classes!
